How Weather Affects Your Scheduled Media

Living in the Florida Panhandle means we deal with weather that can change quickly. Here's how weather plays a role in your scheduled shoot and how we handle it.

Interior Photography

Rain and overcast conditions generally do not prevent interior photography. Interior shots rely on window light and artificial lighting rather than direct sunlight, so cloudy days often produce soft, even results. A light drizzle won't stop an interior shoot.

However, heavy storms with lightning affect safety and can impact the overall mood of window-facing shots. If severe weather is expected, we may discuss rescheduling or arriving at a different time of day.

Exterior Photography

Exterior photos require at minimum dry conditions and reasonable visibility. Overcast skies can actually work beautifully for some properties. However, heavy rain, standing water, active storms, or extremely dark skies will impact the quality of exterior shots significantly.

If the weather is borderline, we'll assess on the day of the shoot. In some cases we can shoot interiors first and wait for a weather window to clear. In others, we'll need to reschedule.

Drone / Aerial Photography

Drone flights are governed by both weather conditions and FAA regulations. We cannot fly in the following conditions:

  • Rain or precipitation of any kind
  • Winds exceeding safe operational limits
  • Low cloud ceilings that reduce visibility below legal minimums
  • Active lightning or approaching storms within the area
  • Temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) in effect
  • Near airports, military bases, or other restricted zones

If drone flight is not possible on the day of your shoot, we will either reschedule the aerial portion for a separate day at no additional charge, or we can proceed with ground-only photography and return for aerials when conditions improve. If we cannot complete the drone photos due to an airport or military base or restricted zone, there will not be free things added to the order.

Weather Reschedules

Weather reschedules are never charged as cancellations. We monitor forecasts closely and will reach out proactively if conditions look problematic. If a shoot needs to be moved due to weather, we'll work quickly to get you rescheduled at the earliest available opening.

Our goal is always to produce the best possible images for your listing and sometimes that means waiting one more day for the right conditions.

What About Sky Replacement?

For listings where the exterior photos were taken on an overcast or grey day, sky replacement can be added in post-production. This replaces a dull sky with a bright blue sky and white clouds for a more appealing result and at no additional charge.

Florida weather is unpredictable, but our commitment to your listing isn't. We'll always communicate early, reschedule quickly, and make sure you get the media your listing deserves.
